Lehigh Cement Co. has postponed a community meeting on how it plans to transport rock from New Windsor to its quarry in Union Bridge.

Lehigh Cement Co. has asked the state if it would be willing to amend an agricultural land easement to allow the company to expand its operations, which include a transportation line between its New Windsor quarry and its plant in Union Bridge.

NEW WINDSOR — Representatives from Lehigh Cement Co. updated residents on the company’s quarry plans at the Town Council meeting Wednesday night.

Fuel storage, quarry to be discussed

As the German-owned Lehigh Cement Co. prepares for growth at its Union Bridge plant, company officials hope to gain permission soon from Carroll County commissioners to permanently store an alternative fuel source and to expand mining at a higher-quality limestone quarry in nearby New Windsor.
